Mary Naomi's Story
I got married too soon--two and a half years after high school. Three years later, I had two daughters and a divorce. In the past 40 years, I've worked and gone to college. I am still working. I say I work "to pay my student retirement." I have worked for the State of Alaska, the State of Colorado, and the State of Texas, and I have worked at universities, colleges, hospitals, law enforcement units, a nursing home, and a small town gasoline station, too. I earned three Associate degrees, a Bachelor degree, and a Master's of Science degree. t--a Chemistry Technologist at that--and I have worked in that career for near nine years. I have three precious grandkids--one boy and two girls. I am currently in Kodiak, Alaska with my little dog, Meaghan, (after living in Bethel for three years). I had lived in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and South Korea between 1979 (when I left Alaska) and 2010 (when I returned to Alaska). What can I say, after all these years, about me? I have always gone gung-ho into whatever I have done, and I still do. I feel about 30-35 years of age --still pushing life. I love Alaska, but it is the mainland I love, especially the Anchorage and Wasilla areas. I want my cross-country skis and speedskates back!
